Kalusha Bwalya - Right man for the job

I am the right man to lead Zambia - Great Kalu

Zambia legend Kalusha Bwalya says he is the right man to lead football in his country.

The 1988 African Footballer of the Year has for the last four years served as Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) vice-president. But he now wants to run for the top position during the FAZ elections on March 29.

Bwalya says he wants to use his international connections and his 21 years as a player to restore the Chipolopolo to their former glory.

“Running for the presidency is the next step given where I have come from,’’ the former Zambia coach told BBC Sport

“I feel it is time for me to head the association and implement the ideas I have. My dream is that Zambia should one day be able to go to the World Cup,’’ said Bwalya, who is a member of both CAF and Fifa committees.

“I also represent the people who won’t rest until Zambia goes to the World Cup and reclaims its position as one of the best teams in Africa.’’

The race for the presidency has so far attracted two other candidates.

One is Hanif Adams, who is a member of the FAZ technical committee and the owner of Zambian Super Division club Lusaka Dynamos. The other is Anthony Kasolo, a former FAZ Secretary General.
