Green Buffaloes Held

CAF Confederations Cup

Green Buffaloes 1-1 Highlanders (Zimbabwe)

Zambia's CAF Confederations cup envoy Green Buffaloes were held to a 1-1 draw at Lusaka's Nkoloma Stadium by Bulawayo based team Highlanders.

Highlanders stunned Buffaloes and the home fans when Curthbert Malajila embarrased Zambia national soccer team third choice Mike Poto with chip as he slotted the ball into the back of the net in the first minute of the match.

Buffaloes responded but luck and poor finishing in the final third let them down. Former Chambishi midfielder John Musukwa and Sebastian Mwansa hit the cross bar.

In the second half, the George Lwandamina coached boys continued to pressure but Highlanders held until the 82nd minute when Malawian referee Kalyoto Ngosi awarded the home team a dubious penalty and defender Lawrence Phiri coveted from the spot to make it 1-1.

Man of the moment Ngosi went on give 7 additional minutes.
