Al Hilal are beatable- 'Zescolo' coach

ZESCO United coach, Wedson Nyirenda has declared that Sudanese side, Al Hilal are beatable and that their display on Sunday night did not mean that they were a better side in their MTN African Champions League first round, first leg here.

'Team Ya Ziko' and under-20 goalkeeper Jacob Banda is helpless after conceeding the first goal. Al Hilal won 2-0

Speaking in the wake of Al Hilal’s 2-0 win over Zesco, Nyirenda said despite the Sudanese team consisting of matured players, they were beatable and his team would come up with a strategy to overturn the deficit in Ndola.

He said looking at Al Hilal’s performance against Zesco, they did not deserve to win and that the Zambian team would do everything possible to put the record straight in a fortnight.

“Next week, we need to come up with a strategy on how to beat them. We’ve to work more on attack. It’s easy and possible to kill Al Hilal off,” he promised.

The Zesco trainer said his team would now have to learn to avoid making costly mistakes like what happened in the first leg.

Nyirenda, however, saluted his players for their performance saying it was encouraging to see the players adhere to the instructions.

He said his charges played according to his game plan but it was just unfortunate that they failed to score.

The Zambia Under-17 coach described the Sudan outing as good despite the loss because the team’s general input was good.

Nyirenda said Zesco would for the time being concentrate on the local league and the weekend’s match against Chambishi in particular.

“We must win and start moving in the local league,” he said.
Al Hilal’s Brazilian coach Heron Ricardo conceded that his team needed to improve before they travel to Zambia for the return leg.

Ricardo said Zesco were a good, strong and highly technical team but that his charges only capitalised on two defensive lapses to secure the victory.

Zesco were cheered on by a pocket of Zambian soldiers on United Nations peace-keeping mission here and students studying in Sudan.

The winner after two legs between Zesco and Al Hilal will face either Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa or Mauritius’ Curepipe FC.

Mayuka disappointed over FAZ deregistration
KABWE Warriors Striker Emmanuel Mayuka has expressed disappointment over the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ)'s decision to deregister him over his player status.

Mayuka said in an interview that he wondering why he should be deregistered while Warriors and Green Buffaloes resolved a messy player status issue involving him.

“I’m not happy about why should I be deregistered. What I have done that FAZ should take such a decision against me?” Mayuka said.

Mayuka did not feature for Warriors on Saturday in their 1-0 home win over Konkola Blades in a KCM/FAZ Super Division Week two game in Kabwe.

Mayuka said he did not sign any agreement with Buffaloes but only signed with Warriors.
The Zambia junior international striker also reaffirmed his desire to play for Warriors this season after his status is resolved.
“What I want is to play for my club. Why can’t people consider my feelings as well? This is my future,” said the 2008 FAZ Young Player of The Year.

Mayuka said Warriors had assured him the situation would be rectified and that he would return to action at Railway Grounds soon.

“I have not done anything to be repaid like this. Did I make a mistake by helping Buffaloes to play in the CAF games? I feel so bad,” he told The Post
Mayuka played for Buffaloes in both the teams preliminary round CAF Confederations Cup games against Chipukizi of Zanzibar.

He scored one goal in Buffaloes first leg away in Zanzibar that the army team won 5-0.
