Kakonje: I 've a healthy relationship with Kennedy Mweene

Zambia national team second choice goalkeeper Kalililo Kakonje has said he has a good working relationship with his rival for the Chipolopolo shirt Kennedy Mweene.

Despite making his international debut earlier than Mweene, the Amazulu goalkeeper has found himself second best to Free State Stars shot stopper and relagated to watch from the bench.

"Kennedy is wonderful and excellent goalkeeper. He is there because he has proved himself.

"At the moment I'm fighting the inner me to reclaim my position as first choice and hopefully it will come," said the dreadlocked 23 year old goalkeeper.

"We do share ideas, encourage each other and frankly speaking our relationship is healthy," he added.

Kakonje who started his South African adventure with PSL side Golden Arrows saw his time at the Durban based club limited to the bench due to superb form of former Zambia first choice Davies Phiri.

And at the start of the 2007/08 season Kakonje left Arrows for Mvela Golden League side, Nathi Lions but his stay was prematurely ended when the Clive Barker coached Amazulu snapped his signature just before the Ghana 2008 Afcon.

"I got the chance and Amazulu provided me the platform. I happy with how things are moving at Amazulu,'' he said

Kakonje also paid tribute to the new Chipolopolo coach Herve Renard and asked Zambians to give him more time.

''He is a good coach. He just needs more time.

Kakonje was on the bench against Swaziland last weekend and is expected to leave for South Africa next week.
