Joshua Dampf of Ferguson has chosen his future.
He did not pick a path that leads to all the comforts of home. Instead, he has decided on the path that will take him to places filled with disease, poverty and illiteracy. He wants to make a difference by becoming a youth minister or a missionary.Dampf, 18, will travel to Zambia in May with four other students. Although he doesn't have any specifics, he said the team will set up leadership camps and sports camps, evangelize and work to give hope to the lives they touch.
"I want to go beyond the physical and communicate spiritual hope," he said. "It's a real leap of faith."
A freshman at Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kan., Dampf graduated from North County Christian School in Florissant. He is a member of the Ferguson Church of the Nazarene, an institution his grandfather established along with the school in 1950.
