Brief Introduction to the formation of the Zambia Development Agency:

Following the enactment of the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) Act No 11 of 2006, the Honourable Minister of Commerce has appointed a
board of directors (Athe Board@) and operations of the new organisation have commenced. On 31st December 2006, the five authorities involved
in the merger were dissolved. These are the Zambia Privatisation Agency, the Zambia Investment Centre, Export Board of Zambia, Zambia
Export Processing Zones Authority and Small Enterprises Development Board.

In its formative stages, the ZDA is expected to continue performing all the functions that were previously undertaken by the dissolved authorities. As may be noted from the ZDA Act, the organisation has also been given new functions in addition to those performed by the dissolved authorities, and therefore a new division has been created.

The Board has also approved an initial organisational structure to enable operations commence and certain administrative measures have been
implemented to enable uninterrupted operations of the functions previously performed by the dissolved authorities. It should be noted that the approved structure may be changed to re-align functional and operational responsibilities as will be determined by the Board and management.
During the formative stages, all staff are urged to work towards building on the achievements made by the five dissolved authorities in the areas
of investment and trade promotion and towards improving Zambia's competitive edge.

Dear Sir,

Iam writing from Mazabuka in Southrn province of Zambia where Iam  running an Institution which which is in the forefront of promotng investment in the district.

We are working with the local Council and last year in September we launched a project called 'PRIVATE PUBLIC DEVELOPMENT PROJECT- 2015.'

The objective of this project is to see how the private and public sectors could partner in order to bring development to the district which has been targerted to attain city status by 2015.

We would like to also collaborate with Zambia Development Agency in promoting this project by attracting investment to the district.

Hello,

We are two students in economics at the University of Linköping in Sweden. This spring we will write our bachelors essay and we are intrested in devoting this essay to investment and  economic development in Zambia.

We are interested in the project that you are doing. We would like to investigate the increased amount of investments, if they have any spillover effects and effects on economic growth and poverty in the country. Basically we would like to investigate if there is any way investment could be made more efficiently to promote economic growth and benefit the people of Zambia. There are many theories about this and we would like to investigate it in empiry. Would it be possible to get in touch with you to see a bit more what you are doing?

We hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards,
