The Central Statistical Office through its monthly survey on consumer prices today announced that the annual rate of inflation, as measured by the all items Consumer Price Index (CPI), was recorded at 13.2 percent as at August 2008. This rate is 0.6 of a percentage point higher than the July rate of 12.6 percent. Compared with the same period last year, the annual rate of inflation increased by 2.5 percentage points, from 10.7 percent in August 2007 to 13.2 percent in August 2008.
The August 2008 inflation rate of 13.2 percent means that prices as measured by the all items Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by an average of 13.2 percent between August 2007 and August 2008.
